The best place to spend the night in Mérida, of course, depends on your preference: either you think it’s great to stay right in the heart of this city, or you prefer to stay a bit further away from the center, which has the advantage that you often stay here. have a garden and lots of greenery. However, don’t let your choice depend solely on your preference for busy and cozy, or a bit quieter. Also consider how you want to move. If you mainly want to use public transport and would only rent a car for a day trip because there is no other option, remember that it is convenient to be right in the center. If you are with a rental car , remember that driving in Mérida is sometimes a bit challenging (especially looking for a parking space and the priority rules = the bigger the car, the more priority 🙂 ). Perhaps it is an option to sit a bit more outside the center.
Spend the night in the center

This is a gem of a hotel! I say middle class, but it can also pass for luxury. A beautiful colonial hotel with spacious rooms. The beds are wonderful and the high walls give the room a very luxurious and spacious appearance. There is also a beautiful patio with the inner garden. And a swimming pool! The location is very nice; quiet yet close to the center.

Budget hotel tip: Hotel Santa Maria Merida
This is a really great budget hotel! This hotel actually has EVERYTHING that the other hotels mentioned here also have, and what’s more, the price is very friendly to your wallet: you can sleep here for just the two of you for $39 and for four for $59 per night! Don’t hesitate and just book this great hotel !
Good value for money: Hotel Palacio Maya****
This is a great value choice in the center of Mérida, yet fully equipped. The rooms are large and air-conditioned. There is a spacious garden with peacocks and hammocks, and a nice swimming pool to cool off in. The hotel offers free parking, very handy in this city!
You can walk to the center in less than 20 minutes. You can book breakfast on the spot, or you can choose to have breakfast in one of the bars. You can get a quadruple room from $82 per night and hotel Palacio Maya scores a solid 8.8 on Booking.com!
Luxury hotel: Hotel Caribe Merida Yucatan****
Another beautiful hotel that has it all: central location 5 minutes from the cathedral, air conditioning in the entire building, nice swimming pool and nice staff. You can park for free and close to the hotel.
It is a beautiful 16th century building, the pictures speak for themselves. For a double room you pay $82 including breakfast, for a quadruple room it is $116. With an 8.1 on Booking.com, this is highly recommended!
Spend the night outside the center
Here we list a number of options, from very affordable over a nice priced hacienda, to a very luxurious hacienda.
Budget hotel: Hacienda Inn****
This is a super-deluxe option, which is really friendly priced. This is a hacienda style hotel. It is located on a busy road, but due to the enormous surface of the complex, you will not be bothered by this. Big advantages of this four-star hotel are the spacious swimming pool, the beautiful gardens and the friendly staff!
You have the choice to book your breakfast or not. Despite the fact that it is not right in the center, you can quickly walk from here to the necessary restaurants, shops and cafes.

We chose: Hotel Hacienda San Pedro Nohpat****
This handsome hacienda is located on the outskirts of Merida, close enough to explore the city, far enough away to quickly explore the area. Hacienda San Pedro Nohpat**** is a 400 year old hacienda, which has been beautifully restored. You will find spacious, bright rooms with air conditioning. You can park in front of the door and here you can also take a dip in the swimming pool. You already have a luxury double room including bubble bath and excellent breakfast for $98 per night. A family room for four people costs $158, including breakfast. Travelers score the hacienda an 8.9, for us it definitely gets a 10!
Luxury Hacienda: Hotel Hacienda Santa Cruz*****
For when you really want to ‘splash’: this hacienda is a gem and is an established value as a luxury hotel! Once again you sleep here in a historic building, equipped with all modern conveniences. It only comes with a more expensive price tag: for $270 you have a beautiful double room in the old part of the hacienda. On Booking.com, Hacienda Santa Cruz gets a solid 8.7!
Spend the night in the vicinity of Uxmal
You can visit Uxmal on a day trip from Mérida. In the afternoon you return. However, it is also nice to stay here for a night – then you can drive the Puuc route the next day on your way to Campeche, another great colonial town.
We did it in the following way. We left Mérida by car to the Uxmal area. On the route we made a nice stop at a hacienda and caves (more on that below). The next day we were at the entrance of Uxmal at 8.00 am and we could view all those beautiful buildings in peace and quiet before the crowds. We combined it with the Choco-Story museum for our kids. We stayed one more night in the Uxmal area. The next day we drove the Puuc route on our way to Campeche!

Here you have everything: nice accommodations, nice breakfast (included in the room price), nice swimming pool, nice hostess. A great B&B, which is rated with a 9.1! We thought it was worth a big 10! This is super cute and very cheap! This hotel hacienda is located in the cute, mustard yellow town of Izamal and fits in wonderfully! Of course there is also air conditioning here and the swimming pool is literally in front of your door. For €46 you sleep in a double room.
